Shaft seals are always used when a space between a shaft and a housing needs to be reliably sealed even at low pressure differences. The sealing effect is achieved by the geometry of the sealing edge of the oil seal and its mating surface. Shaft sealing rings from Movet are available either in the standard version made of high-quality NBR plastic or in a particularly hygienic, blue-coloured version made of TPU plastic. The sealing rings are usually available directly from stock. You can rely on the shortest delivery times and highest reliability in daily continuous use!

What do rotary shaft seals actually do?

A rotary shaft seal must perform two sealing tasks directly in use. On the one hand, the rotary shaft seals provide static sealing between the outer casing of the seal and the bore of the housing; on the other hand, the rotary shaft seal must also provide dynamic sealing with its sealing edge in the direction of the shaft surface. At least until the shaft comes to a standstill, because then the sealing in this area is also static. The static seal between the housing bore and the outer casing of the rotary shaft seal is achieved by an oversize of the outer diameter of the seal. The rotary shaft seal must be selected with a correspondingly precise fit to the subsequent installation space. How to install shaft seals

Installing shaft seals is not witchcraft, but care must be taken to ensure precise and careful installation in order to reliably prevent damage to the seals and leakage during operation. Cleanliness is the key to success when installing shaft seals. Even the smallest particles of dirt between the seal and the shaft can lead to leakage! Even pressure is the easiest way to press a shaft seal into the bore - ideally, use a pressure piece to distribute the pressure evenly over the seal. The sealing lip of the shaft seal rings must always face the medium to be sealed during installation. To ensure that the seal glides easily over the shaft, we recommend lubricating the shaft and seal with oil or grease before installation.
